Packaging Changes - Imperial to Metric

We re currently transitioning from American to the new Australian packaging. This allows us to comply with the current Australian laws relating to unit measurement and labeling standards.

The first thing you'll notice is the removal of imperial measurements and replacement with metric. As the Australian requirement for gels/adhesives is a weight measurement whereas the American standard is volume, some products will display different weights for the same volume. To avoid confusion we are keeping the ounces listed in product titles on our web store along with the grams. The below table better illustrates this.

New packaging also features clearer and easier to read safety information, the relevant Australian/NZ phone numbers, and the removal of the California Prop 65 panel. Crystal Clear, Opaque Black, and Opaque White are also better defined on the package and tube to reduce mistakes when selecting the correct adhesive.

Some products will be removed entirely and others will be added. Our aim is to ensure products deleted have a minimal effect on our customers and we'll be working to ensure the transition causes little issue.

Product Volume/Weight Conversion

E6000:
0.18oz = 7.2g
0.5oz = 20.1g
1oz =40.2g
2oz = 80.4g

Quick Hold / Seal All:
2oz = 59.1ml
Spray E6000:
4oz = 118.2ml

Extreme Tack:
2oz = 59.9g

Fabri Fuse / Fray Lock:

Goop:
2oz = 53.2g
5.1oz = 271.4g

Shoe Goo:

What's that Warning Label all about?

E6000 causes WHAT in California???

We receive a lot of emails regarding the ominous message on the back of the pack so it's important to know what exactly that's all about.

California had great intentions when they launched what is now called "Proposition 65", however this set of legislation was poorly set up and executed, and now they have this strange situation where almost anything you can imagine can be slapped with this warning label.

Basically, if any product is sold in California and it contains any chemical that is on a specific and broad list or to the understanding of the manufacturer, with extensive exposure over a 70 year period, may cause one case of cancer or birth defect in 100,000 people, it is required to display the Prop65 warning.

As the laws are so strict regarding the absence of the label, many manufacturers will apply the label as a precaution and to prevent a lawsuit even if the product has absolutely no chance of causing cancer. Banks, for example, have a warning on the door as there is no scientific proof that rubbing bank notes on the skin daily over a 70 year period won't cause cancer for 1 in 100,000 people. There have been law firms set up simply suing companies who don't have scientific proof that their product or premises won't cause a 0.001% chance of causing cancer after 70 years of constant excessive exposure. This has now been restricted due to a tremendous amount of litigation and profiteering by some lawyers.

Every product containing a solvent, such as nail polish, adhesives, craft and artist paint and fuel will have the warning. You will also see warnings at petrol stations and shopping centre carparks in California too, as constant extensive exposure to car fumes over a 70 year period may cause cancer. There is even a sign at the entry to Disney Land Resort along with virtually every other theme park, school, office building and shopping centre in the state.

If you do a google search you'll find these same cancer warning labels on organic avocados, orange juice and breakfast cereal. You would need to eat close to 1000 avocados every day for life to consume the world health organisation's recommended maximum intake of natural incidental lead content. But that's enough to need the label in sunny California.

As E6000 is made in USA and many of their American retailers are multi-national corporations also selling online, they must have that warning as they may be sold to Californian citizens.

In Australia, and almost every other country, and every other state of the USA, the warning is not relevant as E6000 is no more dangerous than many other household products like nail polishes or spray paints, and just like them, E6000 should be applied and dried in a well ventilated area.

If it's used sensibly, there is certainly nothing to worry about with E6000, just like any other chemical based products n the market!

Did I Buy Genuine?

Have you ever bought E6000 online?

If you answered Yes, there's a chance you may have bought an inferior copy product!
If you answered No, there's a chance you may have bought an inferior copy product!
You may think we made a mistake there, but unfortunately, just like famous brand perfumes and designer handbags, illegal copy glue is a big market for fraudulent factories and dealers. In some cases genuine businesses may have been taken for a ride too! Unlike the perfumes and handbags, E6000 doesn't cost a lot, so really there's no excuse to opt for an inferior copy product. Especially when it can be dangerous!

Over the past year we've had an increase in the number of inquiries starting with "I bought E6000 online and I'm not sure if it's real". Unfortunately factories will illegally stick a brand name label on an inferior product to make a quick dollar, or hundreds of thousands of dollars as they likely do.

If you've bought E6000 from an online auction site, craft site or overseas web store, especially if they are located in China or Hong Kong, you have probably been duped into buying an inferior product. The American manufacturer doesn't sell E6000 to distributors in China or Hong Kong, so if you've seen a seller from those countries, it's almost definitely not the real product.

Sometimes it's easy to spot a copy. Names like E600, F6000, Junior E6000, Max E6000, B6000, Jr E6000 and Glue6000 are among some of the imitations we've seen. But often they have the full unaltered name E6000 on the tube. Although it may look the same or similar, the real difference is inside. Fake products may dry yellowish, become brittle, stay sticky, smell like regular craft glue, never set at all, have a low bond strength, be extremely runny or fail to adhere even the most common surfaces. All of these are not the characteristics of the famous genuine E6000 product.

The inferior products are likely to come from factories operating sweat-shop style operations and not fairly paying their staff. If they are prepared to fake a product to make a few bucks, they're going to be using sub-standard and potentially dangerous ingredients and business practices, possibly endangering their workers.

The unfortunate part is, occasionally reputable businesses and stores also inadvertently buy these inferior products from these overseas sellers thinking they've got the real product and end up selling it as "real" in their stores. Make sure you ask and are reassured the product is legitimate.

An Australian business who imports a fake product into Australia can be liable for litigation from the manufacturer who reserve the right to protect their brand and IP, but also in relation to any health, safety and regulatory issues relating to the product and ingredients.

It is also a legal requirement to hold or have access to the MSDS forms for all chemical products being sold. There generally won't be MSDS forms for the counterfeit products.

We source all of our E6000 direct from the manufacturer in the USA which arrive on sealed and numbered pallets. Therefore we can guarantee 100% that all products on this web store are without doubt the real original product made by Eclectic Products USA. We fully recommend the E6000 adhesives and endorse the reputation of the manufacturer. This is backed up with our 100% satisfaction guarantee and after sales service, in addition to your assurances and guarantees set by the Trade Practices Act.
If you are aware of or suspect someone of selling counterfeit E6000 adhesives in Australia, please fill out the form below and we will forward it to the appropriate department for investigation. You may remain anonymous and we will not forward any identifying information.
